As women, we love shoes…and some would wonder why. My theory is that our brain was designed to love them.
We love variety. Material, color, style, height: stiletto pumps, platforms, wedges, open toe, straps, flats, mules, choices, choices, choices. Having a huge collection of shoes to choose from elevates a woman’s mood, guaranteed.
We love beauty. Shoes are like nice pieces of art we love to admire. I don’t own many pairs of shoes but I love to look at them and try them on. They cover out feet, jazzing up a not-so-sexy part of our body so we can feel pretty literally head-to-toe. It’s SO feminine!
We love empowerment. The right shoes = right posture. Anthony Robbins is a great promoter of how physiology affects our mental state, therefore, high heels make a woman feel sensual, confident, powerful. I’m 4’9″ and a size 5, and it’s hard to find “grown up” shoes that are my size, so when I put on high heels, I feel I can take on the world LOL
We love stability. Except when we are 7 months pregnant and they start swelling up, our feet are always the same size. Gain or lose weight, you know your shoe size and the shoes will fit right.
We love compliments. Even when we don’t really know how to accept them. It’s true. Hot shoes will always turn heads and cause reaction. It is something you can bet on.
In summary, crazy or not, women love shoes and shoes make us feel better. Beware though of turning your love of shoes into an obsession or a cover up for something else that is missing in your life.
It’s not the end of the world. Sometimes, while we complain about not having cute shoes to wear, some people walk many miles barefoot – I know, because I have - but what’s even worse, some people live life without feet.
So love your shoes, whatever brand, size, height, color or style. Appreciate them, wear them and flaunt them confidently!
